Why this trip

I’m Frank, a Swiss golfer who moved to Colombia in 2015 and started Pelecanus in 2017. Most of the good golf here is behind the gates of private member clubs, and getting you onto them is our job. This trip gives you the best of both worlds: three classic courses on the cool Bogotá plateau and two by the Caribbean. You deal with me directly, not a call center.

What makes golf in Colombia special

Why golfers who have “done” Florida, Scotland and Mexico come here.

Year-round golfNo winter season. The courses are open and green 365 days a year.
Quiet weekdaysMembers mostly play at weekends, so midweek you often have the course almost to yourself. That’s when we book your rounds.
Every level welcomeFrom friendly parkland to championship tests rated over 74. Caddies help you read the course and the greens.
Sea level to 3,000 m (9,843 ft)Cool mountain golf on the Bogotá plateau and Caribbean golf on the coast, in one trip.
Great architectsRobert Trent Jones Sr., Nicklaus Design and Stanley Thompson all built courses here.
Private-club experienceYou play as a guest of private member clubs, with their clubhouses and caddie tradition.
Easy from the USNonstop flights from Miami, New York, Atlanta and other cities. Same time as US Eastern in winter.
Great valueA week of golf in Scotland runs £2,500–£6,000+ per person before flights (ProScot Golf). Compare our prices above.
More than golfColonial Cartagena, the Caribbean islands, Bogotá’s museums and markets on your days off.

Good to know

Golf in Colombia. Most Colombian courses sit inside private member clubs; access normally requires membership or a member’s invitation, and that is what we arrange. Caddies are part of the experience at the Bogotá clubs, which you play on foot. Wear long trousers at the Bogotá clubs; shorts are fine at Karibana. Bring your passport to every club.

Weather. Bogotá: 7–19 °C (45–66 °F), so bring a layer. Cartagena: highs of 31–32 °C (88–90 °F), so we book early tee times.

When to go. Year-round. Bogotá is driest January–February and July–August; the Caribbean coast is dry December to April. Members play weekends, so our rounds are mostly midweek.

Getting there. Nonstop flights to Bogotá from more than a dozen US cities, including Miami, New York, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Chicago and Washington. Colombia is on US Eastern Standard Time all year. US citizens need no visa for stays up to 90 days.

Make it yours. Add La Cima at 3,000 m (9,843 ft), beach nights or the coffee region; a non-golfer program; groups of 8–12. Prefer a shorter trip? See our 8-day Bogotá golf week.

Questions

Is Colombia safe for a golf trip?

You travel with a private driver on every transfer and golf day, stay in well-located hotels and play inside gated private clubs. As in any big city, use common sense when you walk around; we brief you on everything before you travel, and our team is on WhatsApp throughout the trip.

Can non-golfers come along?

Yes. They join the city days and the boat, and we plan something else for them on golf days.

Can I bring my own clubs on the domestic flight?

Yes, the golf bag is included in the fare we book.

How do payment and deposit work?

We confirm the payment terms, deposit and balance, together with your quote.

Can we change dates or courses?

Yes. Every trip is built for you; this itinerary is a starting point.

How does the altitude affect my game?

The ball carries about 10% farther in Bogotá. Most golfers take one club less after a few holes.

Ready to plan your trip?

Tell me your dates and group size and I’ll send your exact price. We usually reply the same day.
