I’m Swiss, born and raised in Zurich. After 20 years in finance, I came to Colombia in 2015 for an MBA — with plans to stay — and decided to invest in tourism. Ten years later I run Pelecanus from Bogotá — the only IAGTO member tour operator in Colombia specializing in golf tourism, and the only one with managed access to virtually all private clubs in the country.

I founded Pelecanus in 2017 because I discovered a gap impossible to ignore: Colombia has ~55 golf courses, including designs by Robert Trent Jones Sr., Stanley Thompson, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Arnold Palmer — and virtually none appear on the international golfer’s radar. Most are private clubs with no commercial department, no English on the phone, and no way in for a foreigner. I built that way in, club by club, over eight years.

I have traveled all 30 continental departments of Colombia and personally played every course in the country — from the historic ones on the Bogotá Savanna at 2,600 meters altitude, to the coastal Caribbean courses, the modern designs of the Coffee Region, Cali, Medellín, and Santander. I know every green, every hole, every entrance, every pro shop, and every caddie. I don’t work from reports: I work from verifiable experience.

I speak German, Swiss German, English, Spanish, and French, which allows me to directly serve golfers from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the UK, the US, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, and all of Latin America — and negotiate with Colombian clubs on their own terms. Pelecanus SAS is legally established in Colombia with NIT 901.012.952-7 and National Tourism Registry (RNT), and I have been an active IAGTO member since 2023.

When I design a trip, I don’t apply a package: I build the itinerary from scratch based on your playing level, your schedule, the courses you want to play, and the ones I recommend you visit. That’s the difference between a generic operator and a specialized operator who lives here, knows the club managers by name, and personally responds to every inquiry.
